Ricky
Holohan 26lbs plated mirror
Ricky
has managed to get out once again and during his 48
hour session he managed no less than 7 takes.
Topping his list of captures is this absolutely
stunning plated mirror carp. All carp took a liking
to the Black, Savoury Crab Tips.
I
would like to say “You could not build a carp any
better looking than this. Top result mate”. |
|
Phil
Dasilva 45lbs 8oz mirror
I
recently returned from a fishing session after
catching a 32lbs plus mirror only to find this
picture of a very large specimen carp Phil had
caught with the aid of the same flavoured pop up I
had been using to catch the 32 earlier that day.
Phil
bagged the monster from a local water with the aid
of a Scopex combo flavoured pop up (due for release
in the spring) used as a top knot over a bed of his
food baits.
I
would like to say “Congratulations on a new p.b and
isn’t it a great feeling when they kiss the spreader
block and you have to struggle to carry the fish to
the unhooking matt. Top angling mate. I’m well
pleased for you”. |
|
Ricky Holohan 26lbs 06oz Linear
Ricky continues to produce the goods in no small way
on his chosen venue. I recently received the
following email which I have copied below.
Hi Kev
Sorry it’s been so long, what with toddlers, wife,
holidays and work I sometimes don’t find the time
to get out so when I do I rely heavily on your
baits, and my god do they deliver!!!! The result was
18 takes 13 landed 6 of which were 20s including a
linear. (I’ve sent a photo). The linear is normally
a 30 so a little spawned out but who cares,
the results could of been even better had I not of
been so rusty (I lost a 30 at the net). I hope all
is well with you. Many thanks Kev.
Ricky (Birmingham).
I would just like to say “I’m very pleased that the
proper jobs helped a little with your recent result,
but I’m sure the result was very much down to you
(GOOD ANGLING MATE)”.

Gaz
Whittle with a couple of fine looking carp
Here’s
a chunky 30 plus mirror and cracking linear carp Gaz
captured from Guys Syndicate water.
Well
done Gaz |
|
Simon
Lowes with a selection of his latest captures.
Simon
has been using the proper jobs for some time now and
it was after a phone conversation Simon and I had
with regards to the effects of water pressure on my
pop ups, that I subsequently carried out the Water
Pressure Tests.
Here
is a selection of Simon’s latest captures from a
large southern pit. All the fish fell to a single,
White, 13mm Condensed Milk pop up, which was
presented on a chod rig as an alternative hook bait
over a bed of Active Bait Solution’s M.G.M food
baits.
I
would like to say “Top result Simon and thanks for
the feedback”. |

Cliff
Kemp 52lbs 04oz Mirror
Cliff
was invited to join some guys for a week session on
Elphicks, but he only fished the first weekend and
in that short period of time he managed to catch 14
carp. The haul was topped by a huge 52lbs 04oz
mirror which is shown in the picture. All the carp
fell to Cliff's own food bait, which had been topped
with a pineapple proper job.
Congratulation Cliff, on yet another outstanding
result! |

Steven
Barber 61lbs 04oz Mirror & 43lbs 03oz Common
(France)
Steven
has recently returned from a very memorable trip to
France, where he managed to catch a string of large
carp. Instead of putting together a few appropriate
words myself, I thought it would be better to copy
part of Steven's email for you to read.
"Dear
Kevin
I have just returned from a trip to France where I
used your 13mm savoury crab fluoro pop ups to great
success. I managed to land 6 fish on them -
40lb 4oz mirror, 48lb 13oz mirror, 45lb 2oz mirror,
43lb 3oz common, 53lb 15oz mirror, and a new
personal best 61lb 4oz mirror - amazing size fish
for such a small bait. Thank you for producing such
a quality product."
I
would like to say “Congratulations Steven on a Top
Result and P.B.” |

Kevin
Heal (Mr Proper Job) 50lbs 02oz Mirror
I don’t get the chance
to get out to the lakes much these days (6 days and
nights so far this year), but Thursday 10th
June will go in the diary as a very special day. I
was just coming to the end of a 3 night session and
after breaking one of my Hi S 200s (getting the line
wrapped around the tip and then trying to cast
doesn’t work to well) and then loosing a carp at 20m
after it had got tangled up with my right hand rod,
I eventually managed to net (with a great deal of
help from a friend (thanks Lee) a very angry 26lbs
common, but even this carp managed to wrap itself up
with my adjacent line to the extent that one lot of
line had to be binned. Anyway I was sat in my chair
on my third and last morning when it ripped off for
the third time and after an epic battle lasting
nearly one hour (as the carp buried itself in one
weed bed after another) I managed to slip the net
under her and she pulled the scales around to 50lbs
02oz.
The
long dark Oxfordshire kipper picked up a Scopex/Cream
pop up fished as an alternative hook bait over a
scattering of Nutrabaits food baits. |
|
Terry
Ellis 27lbs Fully Scaled Mirror
Terry
used the proper jobs to good effect for the very
first time (after a recommendation from a friend)
and managed to bag this fully scaled mirror.
Well
done Terry. Fingers crossed the first of many!
|
|
James
Armstrong 34lbs 12oz Mirror
James
has been using the proper jobs to good effect in
recent weeks and here’s a fine picture to show just
how well he’s been doing. James used an 11mm Orange
Cranberry pop up as a topper to balance his Mainline
food bait offering.
Cracking looking carp James. I’m well pleased for ya! |
|
David
Keeley 37lbs 10oz Mirror
David
continues his run of success in his neck of the
woods. Fishing overnighters he managed to bank a 26
pounder followed by this lump, which is the second
biggest carp in the lake at 37lbs 10oz. Both carp
took a liking to Pineapple & N/Butyric pop ups.
Top
Angling David. Very Impressive! |
|
Stuart
Courts Brace of Commons
Stuart
kicked off the start of his season very nicely with
this fine brace of chunky commons to show for his
efforts. The carp(s) pulled the scales around to
31lbs 08oz and 34lbs 03oz. Chocolate Malt pop ups
done the business in both cases.
Great
result Stuart and a fine start to your season. |
|
Mark
Blake Holding 2 of 3 Twenty Pound Plus Mirror Carp
Mark
fished either a White Condensed Milk or Orange Cream
Special to an Island marginal spot as standalone
singles which accounted for 3 twenty pounds plus
mirror carp. He also caught an 18lbs carp using a
fake tiger nut which had been balanced with a Black
Savoury Crab Tip.
Well
done Mark, a fine piece of angling. |
|
Steven
Wadsworth
Steven has just returned from a weeks fishing on a
tricky French venue and he very kindly sent us these
pictures to display on the website. Steven used the
Tips to top off his 16mm food baits as the Tips took
all the weight out of the food baits leaving them in
a finely balanced state ready for a take. Apart from
the stunning condition of the carp and the very
impressive 63lbs mirror, I particularly like the
picture of the Sturgeon with the cat looking on.
Steven said that the half wild cat adopted him for
the week (as he fed it with tins of tuna) and the
Sturgeon was a bit much for the cat to handle, but
he did give it a lick.
Thanks very much for the pictures and feedback
Steven. It’s much appreciated. |

Tim
Newman's monstrous brace
Tim Newman has been doing the business in his neck
of the woods with an unusual (to say the least)
capture under his belt. Apart from the two fine
looking commons in the pictures, he also bagged an
86lbs catfish and to add to that he also bagged
another 50lbs catfish the same night he caught the
86. All fish (including the cats) fell to pineapple
pops.
What
can I say? That’s one monstrous brace you caught
there Tim. Congratulations. |
|
Kevin
Lawrence
Kevin Lawrence had a spectacular result using the
15mm mega buoyant pops over a lightly baited area.
Kev banked the three carp (two of which are normally
thirties) during a 36 hour session.
Top
angling Kev, I think the look on your face says it
all. |
|
David Keeley 31lbs
Mirror
David
got off to a fine start on his chosen venue this
April with 3 carp to show for his efforts. The cream
of the crop was topped by the long lean looker shown
in the picture, which tipped the scales round to
31lbs. The carp took a liking to pineapple pop ups
fished choddy style.
Top
result David, cracking looking kipper. |
|
Joseph
Booty 23lb 15oz Mirror & 24lb 5oz Ghost
 Here
are a couple of pictures of some fine looking
specimens being held by their captor Joseph Booty.
Joe caught the carp from two different waters using
chods. The mirror in the picture fell to a pineapple
pop up, as did 3 other carp (not shown) from the
first venue and the Ghostie took a fancy to a squid
& octoplus pop up.
Top
angling Joe and thanks for the feedback. |
|
Shane
Poole 27lbs Mirror
Shane Poole done a quick overnighter on new
syndicate water and he managed to catch 3 carp to
27lbs for his efforts. Shane caught the carp using
the Savoury Crab pop ups fished on a stiff hinge rig
Top
angling Shane and thanks for the feedback.
|
|
Mark
Chivers 31lbs 08oz Mirror
Mark
fished a venue close to his home and managed to
capture one of the lakes most sought after resident
in the shape of this very dark coloured mirror. Mark
tempted the mirror with a savoury crab pop up fished
close to an overhanging tree.
Nice
one Mark. Top result. |
|
Daniel
Caylor 36lbs 10oz Mirror
Daniel
finished the season on a particularly tricky
Southern Park Lake in fine style when one of the
long term residents picked up his offering and tried
to make its escape. Alas the upper thirty mirror had
to pose for the camera before being released. Dan
done the business using a barrel shaped Chocolate
Malt pop up fished at fairly close range.
“Top
Result Dan” |

Cliff
Kemp December Result
Cliff started using the Proper Jobs (after a tip off
from his good friend Tim Fromant) shortly after I
first made the pops available on the Internet, and
after using the pops
to such good effect earlier
this year (2009) at the B.C.A.C. qualifiers, he has
gained the utmost confidence in their performance.
This December (2009) Cliff took the Proper Job Pop
Ups onto a Kent still water and as a result for his
efforts he had these three specimens to photograph.
I would like to say “Nice one Cliff, great result
and like you said that Grass Carp must have been a
bit of a surprise for December”. |
|
David
Moncaster 42lbs 14oz Common
David
caught this magnificent common from Bundys pit. He
presented one of Geoff Bowers (Active Bait
Solutions) food bait creations, which he topped with
a Proper Job 11mm Scopex/Cream pop up to form the
perfect snowman presentation. The common picked up
David’s offering from a depth in excess of forty
feet.
Apart
from the very memorable capture, David has also
given me some very interesting feed-back with
regards to how the Proper Job Pop Ups have coped
with the excessive depths associated with this hand
dug pit. David tested an 11mm pop up tied to a withy
pool rig at depths in excess of forty feet and when
he reeled in after leaving the small pop up
submerged for 24 hours, he found that the 11 miller
still popped the rig up perfectly when tested in the
margin.
I
would like to congratulate David on a top result
(possibly made even more special because it’s a
December capture) and thank him for his feed-back. |
|
Nick
Dodge 36lbs 11oz Linear
Nick
has been using the pops as part of his armoury for a
while now and one of his tactics is to top off his
own food bait with a small brightly coloured pop up
fished snowman style and the picture of the pristine
conditioned linear is proof that his method is
working very well indeed.
I
would like to say “Congratulations on another
perfectly conditioned, brand new looking specimen”. |
|
Shane
Poole 39lbs 04oz Common
Shane
placed his order for a selection of proper jobs and
asked at the time of ordering if his order would be
with him before the weekend as he was fishing a lake
with some large commons he would like to catch. A
couple of days later he emailed me to say his pops
had arrived. Four days later and on his return from
his first session using the pops he sent me this
cracking picture of a magnificent and pristine
conditioned common. The large common took a fancy to
a pink cream special fished choddy style.
I
would like to say “Congratulations Shane, top result
and fingers crossed the first of many”. |
|
Jordan
Watson, 20lbs 06oz of “Perfection” and a new
personal best as well.
If
ever there was a beauty pageant for Carp I think
Jordan is holding a serious contender here. The
young northern angler has been doing the business in
his neck of the woods this season with many fish
falling to his tactics. He tempted this beauty with
a Chocolate Malt pop up fished choddy style and his
capture is the first time the carp has visited the
bank in over a year.
I
would like to say, “Congratulations Jordan, I think
the carp you are holding is the best looking carp I
have seen in a very long time with a fantastic scale
pattern and colouration”. |
|
Steve
Battle 49lbs 08oz mirror
Steve won’t forget the
night of 30th
October 2009 in a hurry, as it was on this date that
he cast out his bottom baited rig to which he had
attached a white proper job pop up to balance his
own food bait offering, and it wasn’t long before he
scooped his landing net under this magnificent
specimen.
Steve is obviously well made up with his capture, and
I would like to say that I have fished on this same
water when Steve was around, and I cannot think of a
more likeable and deserving guy to bag a big un.
“Well
done Steve. I am very pleased for you”. |
|
Kurt Demetrious 32lbs 10oz mirror
Kurt was fishing on one of the Linear Fisheries when
his friend Ricky Holohan gave him some of the soon
to be released Tips to try. When Kurt finished his
session he removed his one and only remaining Tip
and put it in his tackle bag. His next fishing trip
was to Himley Hall where he puts his one and only
used Tip back on and whacks it out.
Guess what happens next? He only goes and lands the
biggest fish in the lake “Trevor”. “What a result”.
I would just like to say “Congratulation Kurt, top
result and a memorable tale too”. |

Nathan Fotoohi - 39lbs 08oz mirror.
Nathan
made his first purchase of Proper Jobs in September
and he also sent me an email stating that if he
caught a decent carp he would send me a picture.
Well it wasn’t long before this picture appeared in
my mail and I think I can safely say that Nathan has
been true to his word as the carp looks a very
decent one to me. Nathan caught the mirror from a
local water and it was only the second time that he
had used the pops.
I
would just like to say “Congratulations Nathan, you
are true to your word”. |

Ricky Holohan
is continuing his run of success on one of the
Linear Fisheries Syndicate Waters. Ricky topped his
recent captures with this cracking 34lbs 09oz mirror
and I think the smile on his face says all that
needs to be said. The carp fell to one of the soon
to be released “Tips”.
I
would just like to say “Well done mate Top Result”. |
|
Nick
Dodge 45lbs 07oz U.K. Common
Nick has been putting the Proper Jobs to good use of
late as this magnificent 45lbs+ English Common goes
to show. Nick used a small pop up to top off his
food bait to tempt the rare beast from an
undisclosed venue.
I
would like to take this opportunity to congratulate
Nick on the capture of a Carp of a life time. “WHAT
A RESULT”.

Syndicate Hauling
- Ricky
Holohon
from Birmingham
has been doing very nicely at one of his syndicate
waters. Ricky has been using 11mm pop ups and the
soon to be released “Tips” fished over bait. His
first trip to the water produced a mid twenty, his
second trip produced a couple of twenties and his
third trip produced a mind blowing result with
twelve takes and amongst the haul were five
twenties, topped by a thirty one pound twelve ounce
beauty (a picture of the thirty one can be viewed in
the gallery). Needless to say, Ricky is very pleased
with the pop ups, which is good news for everybody
concerned.
I would like to add my congratulations to Ricky and
thank him for his feedback.
Cheers Ricky and keep um coming.

More B.C.A.C. Success -
Cliff
Kemp and Tim Fromant
managed to catch 199lbs 15oz of carp during their
B.C.A.C. qualifier at Walthamstow No 1 giving them
third place and when you consider they were tenth
out of the draw (from twelve) you can guess that all
the favoured/going swims had already been taken.
11mm pop ups accounted for all of Cliff and Tim’s
carp.
I
would like to take this opportunity to thank Cliff
and Tim for their feedback and wish them good luck
in the semi finals.
|
|
Lyndon Hodgson & Philip Dasilva discovered the advantages of using Proper Job Pop Ups when the little baits helped them on their way to victory during their B.C.A.C. qualifying round at Walthamstow’s Lower Maynard Reservoir. Lyndon and Phil managed to catch seven carp for a total weight of 147.03 lbs which was an outstanding result when you consider they finished exactly 100 lbs ahead of their nearest competitors. All their fish fell to 11mm and 13mm Condensed Milk pop ups.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lyndon and Phil for their feedback and wish them good luck in the semi finals.

Daren Norman
(a.k.a. The Kent Hauler) nearly finished his
spring fishing on Wraysbury One with a brace of carp
under his belt. Unfortunately his second opportunity
fell off, but he still had this 32lbs
+
Common
to show for his efforts.
Nice one Daren but you will have to come to one of
my rig classes!
