Harry Cunningham holding a chunky 37lbs common

Harry was introduced to the proper jobs by his friend Shane Poole and between the two of them they have been putting the proper jobs to good use. Harry cast a hinged stiff rig which had been baited with a white squid & octoplus pop up to hard spot (amongst a silt bed) just off the back of a plateau and as a result he banked this cracking common.

Shane with a perfect linear

Here’s Shanes description of events which lead to the capture of the linear.

I’ve just got back from a 2 nighter. It was a difficult session with nothing showing and not much to go on but managed a 30.06 linear this morning after watching the water since first light, seen a few bubbles appear in an area where I know there is a bed of blanket weed alive with naturals. Cast a single white 13mm squid & octoplus just past the bubbles and drew it back across the surface and felt it down amongst the bubbles. 2 hrs later I got a couple of bleeps and the tipped pulled round and ten minutes later a lovely fish in the bottom of the net. Caught again on your pukka pops on a stiff hinge rig.

Brian with a huge French whacker

Brian phoned me on a Thursday requesting an express delivery on some proper jobs as the mice had dined on his existing stash of proper jobs and he was due to leave for France on Saturday, anyway the pops arrived prior to Brian’s departure and he left for France. On his return I was very pleasantly surprised to receive an email informing me of the very memorable trip he’d had. Brian used the Pineapple Tips to bank six carp during his holiday of which the biggest pull the scales around to 69lbs 02oz

Joseph with an afternoon surprise

Joseph was fortunate enough to get an unexpected afternoon off work, so he headed straight for his local venue to see if he could get lucky. He cast a chod rig which had been baited with a squid & octoplus pop up to a silt patch at ninety yards and a short while later he landed this pristine looking mirror which tipped the scales around to 28lbs 12oz

I first met Lee while we were both on days only at Savay and I like to think we both hit it off straight away, but unlike me Lee patiently persevered on days only for a fair few years until he was asked if he would like a syndicate place, which of course he accepted. Now I know how much effort went into the build up to this capture and I would like to say “Fair play to you mate, the lake is paying you back for all those years of patience”. Lee arrived at Savay on dark and cast a single 13mm Chocolate Malt popup to the third bar and a short while later he was posing for the camera.

Here’s a couple of fine pictures Alex very kindly emailed to me along with his following catch report and comments.

Hi Kevin,
Thought I would post a couple of pictures of 2 carp that I have caught on your bait.
The 1st fish is a 40lb 4oz mirror that I caught on a snowman rig using a 11mm pink Cream Special back in July this year. The second is a PB common of 32lb taken on a 15mm MB Scopex/Cream during the weekend just passed (Sept 2010).
I would also like to say a big thanks and keep up the good work! The best pop ups money can buy!

Paul Crispin with a couple of pristine conditioned large carp

Paul is an old school angler who generally quietly goes about his business catching a few along the way. The pictures show a couple of recent fish from a southern venue where he presented his quarry with the soon to be released Scopex Combo pop up either fished as a standalone single or as an alternative hook bait, fished over a scattering of food baits.

Dave Hill with the best of a 10 fish catch

Dave used a Baitworks Kingfish food bait to which he added a white squid & octoplus proper job pop up to balance out his snowman presentation perfectly. Dave is pictured with the best fish of a 10 fish haul using the above combination.

Tim Fromant with three fine looking mirrors

Tim has been catching a fair few fish in his neck of the woods this year. The three carp shown represent just a small fraction of specimen carp Tim has banked with the help of the proper jobs. Tim used the soon to be released Scopex Combo flavoured pop ups (either fished as a top knot or single) to bank the three carp shown.

I would like to say “Give a top bait to a top angler and the carp don’t stand a chance. Top angling mate”.

Martin Boreham with a couple of large carp from his French trip

Martin has recently returned from a fishing trip to France and here is what he had to say:

Hi Kev.

I’ve just returned from a week in France. I had 4 x 20's, 5 x 30's a 43.10 common and a 39.04 grassie.  All fish fell to snowman rigs, 18mm cell topped with an 11mm condensed milk!!!! Presentation consisted of a size 6 Korda Long shank with shrink tube on the bend of the hook and on the eye and your pop ups balanced the rig perfectly!!!
Brilliant pop ups as usual, thanks mate.

I would like to say “Thanks for sending in the details of your trip and congrats on a Top result”.

Jason Living with 3 original Colne Valley Warriors

Jason has been a Proper Job customer for some time now and he generally steers clear of any publicity, so I must say that I very much appreciate him taking the trouble to send in these three pictures and details of the pop ups used.

During a 36 hour session on a Colne valley pit, Jason caught 23 carp (most of whom were stockies) and in amongst his haul were these original warriors. All carp took a liking to the Scopex/Cream pop ups fished over a serious amount of bait.

I would like to say “Top bombing J and I bet you slept well after a session like that”.

Ricky Holohan 26lbs plated mirror

Ricky has managed to get out once again and during his 48 hour session he managed no less than 7 takes. Topping his list of captures is this absolutely stunning plated mirror carp. All carp took a liking to the Black, Savoury Crab Tips.

I would like to say “You could not build a carp any better looking than this. Top result mate”.

Phil Dasilva 45lbs 8oz mirror

I recently returned from a fishing session after catching a 32lbs plus mirror only to find this picture of a very large specimen carp Phil had caught with the aid of the same flavoured pop up I had been using to catch the 32 earlier that day.

Phil bagged the monster from a local water with the aid of a Scopex combo flavoured pop up (due for release in the spring) used as a top knot over a bed of his food baits.

I would like to say “Congratulations on a new p.b and isn’t it a great feeling when they kiss the spreader block and you have to struggle to carry the fish to the unhooking matt. Top angling mate. I’m well pleased for you”.

Ricky Holohan 26lbs 06oz Linear

Ricky continues to produce the goods in no small way on his chosen venue. I recently received the following email which I have copied below.

Hi Kev
Sorry it’s been so long, what with toddlers, wife, holidays and  work I sometimes don’t find the time to get out so when I do I  rely heavily on your baits, and my god do they deliver!!!! The result was 18 takes 13 landed 6 of which were 20s including a linear. (I’ve sent a photo). The linear is normally a 30 so a little spawned out but who cares, the results could of been even better had I not of been so rusty (I lost a 30 at the net). I hope all is well with you. Many thanks Kev.

Simon Lowes with a selection of his latest captures.

Simon has been using the proper jobs for some time now and it was after a phone conversation Simon and I had with regards to the effects of water pressure on my pop ups, that I subsequently carried out the Water Pressure Tests.

Here is a selection of Simon’s latest captures from a large southern pit. All the fish fell to a single, White, 13mm Condensed Milk pop up, which was presented on a chod rig as an alternative hook bait over a bed of Active Bait Solution’s M.G.M food baits.

Cliff Kemp 52lbs 04oz Mirror

Cliff was invited to join some guys for a week session on Elphicks, but he only fished the first weekend and in that short period of time he managed to catch 14 carp. The haul was topped by a huge 52lbs 04oz mirror which is shown in the picture. All the carp fell to Cliff's own food bait, which had been topped with a pineapple proper job.

Steven Barber 61lbs 04oz Mirror & 43lbs 03oz Common (France)

Steven has recently returned from a very memorable trip to France, where he managed to catch a string of large carp. Instead of putting together a few appropriate words myself, I thought it would be better to copy part of Steven's email for you to read.

"Dear Kevin

I have just returned from a trip to France where I used your 13mm savoury crab fluoro pop ups to great success. I managed to land 6 fish on them  - 40lb 4oz mirror, 48lb 13oz mirror, 45lb 2oz mirror, 43lb 3oz common, 53lb 15oz mirror, and a new personal best 61lb 4oz mirror - amazing size fish for such a small bait. Thank you for producing such a quality product."

Kevin Heal (Mr Proper Job) 50lbs 02oz Mirror

I don’t get the chance to get out to the lakes much these days (6 days and nights so far this year), but Thursday 10^th June will go in the diary as a very special day. I was just coming to the end of a 3 night session and after breaking one of my Hi S 200s (getting the line wrapped around the tip and then trying to cast doesn’t work to well) and then loosing a carp at 20m after it had got tangled up with my right hand rod, I eventually managed to net (with a great deal of help from a friend (thanks Lee) a very angry 26lbs common, but even this carp managed to wrap itself up with my adjacent line to the extent that one lot of line had to be binned. Anyway I was sat in my chair on my third and last morning when it ripped off for the third time and after an epic battle lasting nearly one hour (as the carp buried itself in one weed bed after another) I managed to slip the net under her and she pulled the scales around to 50lbs 02oz.

The long dark Oxfordshire kipper picked up a Scopex/Cream pop up fished as an alternative hook bait over a scattering of Nutrabaits food baits.

Terry Ellis 27lbs Fully Scaled Mirror

Terry used the proper jobs to good effect for the very first time (after a recommendation from a friend) and managed to bag this fully scaled mirror.

Well done Terry. Fingers crossed the first of many!

James Armstrong 34lbs 12oz Mirror

James has been using the proper jobs to good effect in recent weeks and here’s a fine picture to show just how well he’s been doing. James used an 11mm Orange Cranberry pop up as a topper to balance his Mainline food bait offering.

David Keeley 37lbs 10oz Mirror

David continues his run of success in his neck of the woods. Fishing overnighters he managed to bank a 26 pounder followed by this lump, which is the second biggest carp in the lake at 37lbs 10oz. Both carp took a liking to Pineapple & N/Butyric pop ups.

Stuart Courts Brace of Commons

Stuart kicked off the start of his season very nicely with this fine brace of chunky commons to show for his efforts. The carp(s) pulled the scales around to 31lbs 08oz and 34lbs 03oz. Chocolate Malt pop ups done the business in both cases.

Great result Stuart and a fine start to your season.

Mark Blake Holding 2 of 3 Twenty Pound Plus Mirror Carp

Mark fished either a White Condensed Milk or Orange Cream Special to an Island marginal spot as standalone singles which accounted for 3 twenty pounds plus mirror carp. He also caught an 18lbs carp using a fake tiger nut which had been balanced with a Black Savoury Crab Tip.

Well done Mark, a fine piece of angling.

Steven Wadsworth

Steven has just returned from a weeks fishing on a tricky French venue and he very kindly sent us these pictures to display on the website. Steven used the Tips to top off his 16mm food baits as the Tips took all the weight out of the food baits leaving them in a finely balanced state ready for a take. Apart from the stunning condition of the carp and the very impressive 63lbs mirror, I particularly like the picture of the Sturgeon with the cat looking on. Steven said that the half wild cat adopted him for the week (as he fed it with tins of tuna) and the Sturgeon was a bit much for the cat to handle, but he did give it a lick.

Tim Newman's monstrous brace

Tim Newman has been doing the business in his neck of the woods with an unusual (to say the least) capture under his belt. Apart from the two fine looking commons in the pictures, he also bagged an 86lbs catfish and to add to that he also bagged another 50lbs catfish the same night he caught the 86. All fish (including the cats) fell to pineapple pops.

What can I say? That’s one monstrous brace you caught there Tim. Congratulations.

Kevin Lawrence

Kevin Lawrence had a spectacular result using the 15mm mega buoyant pops over a lightly baited area. Kev banked the three carp (two of which are normally thirties) during a 36 hour session.

Top angling Kev, I think the look on your face says it all.

David Keeley 31lbs Mirror

David got off to a fine start on his chosen venue this April with 3 carp to show for his efforts. The cream of the crop was topped by the long lean looker shown in the picture, which tipped the scales round to 31lbs. The carp took a liking to pineapple pop ups fished choddy style.

Joseph Booty 23lb 15oz Mirror &  24lb 5oz Ghost

Here are a couple of pictures of some fine looking specimens being held by their captor Joseph Booty. Joe caught the carp from two different waters using chods. The mirror in the picture fell to a pineapple pop up, as did 3 other carp (not shown) from the first venue and the Ghostie took a fancy to a squid & octoplus pop up.

Shane Poole 27lbs Mirror

Shane Poole done a quick overnighter on new syndicate water and he managed to catch 3 carp to 27lbs for his efforts. Shane caught the carp using the Savoury Crab pop ups fished on a stiff hinge rig

Mark Chivers 31lbs 08oz Mirror

Mark fished a venue close to his home and managed to capture one of the lakes most sought after resident in the shape of this very dark coloured mirror. Mark tempted the mirror with a savoury crab pop up fished close to an overhanging tree.

Daniel Caylor 36lbs 10oz Mirror

Daniel finished the season on a particularly tricky Southern Park Lake in fine style when one of the long term residents picked up his offering and tried to make its escape. Alas the upper thirty mirror had to pose for the camera before being released. Dan done the business using a barrel shaped Chocolate Malt pop up fished at fairly close range.
