Ashmeads Two Biggest Residents
Joe Blair sent in the following pictures and feedback. Here’s what Joe had to say:
The attached pictures are the two biggest out of Ashmead lake in Somerset and those two fish are the only bites I’ve had out of there. I caught both of the carp on your pop ups during the winter time.
Thanks
Joe
Hi Joe
Many congratulations on your results and thanks for sending in your pictures and feedback. Also, if you are going to catch two fish, you just as well catch the two biggest. Great result!!
Banana Banana
Chris Naylor sent in the following picture and feedback. Here’s what Chris had to say:
Kevin
Just to let you know that I used your pop ups for the first time this weekend. Wow! What a result, see attached photo of Common Carp of 27lb 2oz caught at 120 yards on the 13mm Banana Proper Job Pop up on a safe leader chod rig. This is a good sized fish from Porth and ended a run of 40+ nights blank on this water for me. As your website says the banana had to be the first one out of the pot for me.
Second order coming shortly
Regards
Chris
Hi Chris
Many congrats on your capture ending a long run of blanks and thanks
for sending in your picture and feedback, which is much appreciated!! After a long stretch like that, I bet you could hardly believe it when the alarm sounded and the reel started spinning (I assumed you had a run and not a drop-back). Happy days!!
And - Yes, the Banana has done me proud on many a water.

Hi Bud
Switched to a white bait as the visibility wasn’t great with the start of the spring algae bloom. Caught 2 and this was the biggest at 26lb 8oz. Hope all is well and that in-tray is going down
Dan
Hi Dan
Many congratulations on your capture and thanks very much for sending in the picture and feedback which is much appreciated!
Pineapple Tips
Mr Proper Job Gets Lucky!
April 30th 2019 will be a day I’ll remember for the rest of my life!
I was fishing the Island Swim at the one and only Rainbow Lake in France with my brother Richard. It was while Richard was making his way back to our swim after dropping his long range rod, the tip of my rod gave a few knocks and bent over. I jumped in my boat and set off at a rapid pace. On route I felt the line pinging off several light twigs and eventually I was over the fish which had settled behind a sunken snag. However, after applying a gentle upward pressure I could feel things starting to move in the right direction.
At this point the fish woke-up and started plodding around and holding the bottom like iron filings to a magnet. After the fish had showed me who was the boss for around 15 minutes, I eventually caught a glimpse of what was on the end of my line. My initial estimate was maybe 70lbs but the fish felt really heavy and by the way it held the bottom I thought it may-well be bigger. After a total battle run-time of around 20 minutes the fish was ready for the nett and as she kissed the spreader block I tried to lift the nett but the drawcord on the 42inch nett was still across the thick part of the fishes wrist (the tail was still well outside the nett) so I had to put a lot of effort into lifting the nett and hope the fish would eventually fold into the mesh. On returning to the swim my brother had prepared everything ready for the weighing (it’s a two man job to handle fish of this size). When we hoisted the weigh sling onto the scales, I was the wrong side of the scales to see the dial face, so as I walked around to view the scales I said to my brother “How big boy – eighty what” and he said “ There’s something not quite right here” and I said “What’s that then” and he said “It’s gone straight past 90”.
We settled on a final weight of 90lbs 12oz. Job Done!!!
The main food bait used was a custom mix with orange oil which had been rolled by Active Bait Solutions. A.B.S also sent me some matching base mix & a bottle of the flavour/attractor package which I used to make my own hard hookers. For the presentation, I topped the hard hooker with a Proper Job – Pineapple Tip. As loose feed and to add additional attraction into the area, I spread a scattering of BP Millings - BP Gold pellets over the general area.
In addition to the huge Common, I also landed a nice selection of fish including a 72lbs Mirror and a 61lbs Common.

Condensed Milk
Simon Morrissey sent in the following pictures and feedback. Here’s what Simon had to say:
Thanks Kevin,
I used the Coconut Specials before but for me, the Condensed Milk has definitely out fished them. Here’s one I caught last weekend from Chilham Mill that went 33-8...
Cheers
Simon
Hi Simon
Many congratulations on your capture of the cracking looking heavily plated mirror.
Also, thank you very much for sending in the picture and your feedback, which is much appreciated! The Condensed Milk is in my opinion, one of the best out there! Unfortunately for me but fortunately for you (and other users of the CM), I don't sell many tubs of them as they are not in fashion at the moment, but they’re one of the best out there!!
Coconut Specials
Glynn Merrill sent in the following picture and feedback. Here’s what Glynn had to say:
Hi Kevin I have to say that your pop ups are just awesome. I’ve 100% confidence in them (which is hard to find these days). I've just got a ticket on Ecton Lakes in Northampton and I’ve only done 3 nights so far but I still managed to twinkle out one of the “A” team - a fish called Stumpy Pec which weighed in at 38lb12oz. That fish has been in that lake for 40 years! So, to say I'm buzzing with my achievement is an understatement. It was caught on one of your Washed Out Pink - Coconut Specials and I just want to say thank you for making my achievement possible.
Hi Glynn. Many congrats on your result and thanks for sending in the pictures which are much appreciated! I can see by the smile on your face that you’re a very happy chap. I was also thinking that when that fish first went in the lake, I was 19 years old and a 5lbs Tench would of been a big fish for me back then! Also, thanks for your kind words with regards to the PJs making your achievement possible. But, I know they only played a small part in your capture and most of what you achieved was down to you.
Pineapple
Long-time Proper Job user Steven Wadsworth sent in the following pictures and feedback. Here’s what Steven had to say:
Hi Kevin
I have been a user of proper job pop ups for several years now and would never consider using anything else. Just wanted to let you know I bought a pot of 15mm F/Yellow Pineapple & N/Butyric a few weeks ago just before a trip to France. The fishing has been hard but this morning a single pop up produced the 57:02 mirror shown in the attached picture. Thank you Kevin for producing such a great product.
Regards
Steve Wadsworth
And a couple of days later the below message arrived in my inbox.
Hi Kevin
Following up on my earlier email, here is a 48:12 common, which was also caught on the Pineapple and N/Butyric. So far I've had 6 fish all on this one bait, being a 50, a 40, 3 x 30s and a 20.
Many thanks for a great bait.
Steve
Hi Steve
Many congratulations on your captures and thanks very much for sending in your pictures and feedback which is much appreciated!
BP Plus or Squid & Octoplus
David Keeley sent in the following pictures and feedback. Here’s what David had to say:
Hi Kevin - Just a quick note to say I've just got back from France where I had a blinding week. Using your BP Plus or Squid & Octoplus in Pink for the 1st time. I've ended up with a 58, 52, 49, 45, 42 and a 32 and I’ve attached a pic or two. Many thanks for a quality product that is streets ahead of any others on the market.
Regards Dave Keeley.
Hi Dave. Many congrats on a very successful trip to France and thanks for taking the time to send the pictures and feedback, which is much appreciated. Those fish are minters (torpedoes comes to mind) and one could easily think they come from a top UK venue. Quality!
